Shavettes look and feel like a straight razor but skip the part where you have to strop and hone a fixed blade. You snap a DE blade in half, drop it in, and shave. When it's dull, swap in a fresh half-blade.

This is what a lot of barbers actually use behind the chair. You get the straight razor experience, the close shave, the satisfying sound, without the maintenance.

Heads up, the learning curve is steeper than a DE. Shallower angle, less pressure, slower strokes. Worth getting a few months of DE shaving under your belt first if you're new to wet shaving. If you've already got the basics down, this is the next step.
